Interactive music curriculum designed to align with composers, performers and music of the Menuhin Competition is being written for Elementary, Middle and High School classes by VCU faculty, members of the Virginia Music Educators Association (VMEA) and the Virginia String Teachers Association (VASTA) to be implemented in May 2021. Elementary activities include listening, movement, composing, and string instrument activities. Middle School and High School activities include opportunities to adopt a performer to cheer on throughout the competition and various activities related to learning the melodies, techniques, performance skills and historical aspects of Menuhin Competition-related materials. Students can cheer their performers on through live and remote viewing capabilities in the schools during the festival as well as experience the beauty and elegance of the masterworks being performed in the weeks leading up to the event through classroom activities.
